Announcements:

June 26th, 2024: As part of an ongoing project, I have been going through all of my older works and posting them within my online portfolio. The releases below cover a wide range of works throughout the years: improvisations, filed recordings, and other unique approaches to composition. It was an interesting and also inspiring experience to return to these works (some more than a decade old). Each of these releases is available for download and/or direct streaming.

May 6th, 2024: After a long semester, it’s great to finally share my most recent work. The Network – Live Graphic Score for Improvisation was performed this past March by the Electronic Music ensemble as Wayne State University. The work utilizes 4 individual patches all controlling individual aspect of the visuals. Both the laptop performers and the improvisors react and create the piece in real time. It was great to work with these students and help refine the piece throughout the semester.

Using Max, the laptop performers send changes in the score using [udpsend] and [udpreceive] objects to the projected computer via a Wi-Fi network. Each laptop performer controls one aspect of the graphic score; creating an improvisatory dialogue not only between those making the score but also those interpreting it.

December 1st, 2023: Final releases of the year, now available on Bandcamp. Finishing the year with two more releases of older works. ‘July-2018’ and ‘Inductor Pickup Recordings’ now available as free downloads. Next year will see more release of older works as well as and the start of new projects.

November 4th, 2023: Two new releases now available on Bandcamp

Live Coding Improvisations [2012-2013]:

As part of an ongoing project, I have been going through all work listed in my CV and making available to listen to.

“A collection of improvisations focusing on the technique of live coding. Originally recorded during the fall of 2012 and two improvisations in 2013, this collection was created using the program SuperCollider. Shortly after graduating from Mills College in 2012, I sought to explore new forms of improvisation as well as explore the timbral capabilities of SuperCollider (or a least what my skills at the time could draw out of it).”

Selected Improvisations [2021]:

Essentially the ‘b-sides’ of Void Sky, these improvisations showcase more rhythmic ideas and make use of new equipment I purchased at the time.

“A collection of long form improvisations recorded in 2021. Along with an exploration of form, rhythm and phasing came to the forefront of my improvisational practice at this time. Specifically, incorporating new equipment such as the Ornament-8 Organismic Sequencer and contrasting/complementing the Moog DFAM.”

October 6th, 2023: Void Sky available on Bandcamp for streaming and free download. Having worked on this album for two and a half years, it’s exciting and a bit nerve racking to finally release it.

Excerpt of album notes: Originally based off improvisation recorded between 2020-2021; “Void Sky” eventually morphed into an endeavor to edit and refine the improvisations into a finished interconnected work. The album explores various feedback techniques in disparate frequency ranges as a means to examine the absence of those frequencies not heard.

In addtion to the album release; I created a visualizer for the title track(s). Video contains flicking throughout

September 8th, 2023: This past March saw the full premiere of Motion/Afterimage. It was a pleasure to work with the students in the Electronic Music Ensemble at Wayne State University. Getting thier feedback and listening to thier interpretation of the work was a privilege as was finally having the piece played in its entirety.

July 28th, 2023: In preparation for the release of my upcoming album, Void Sky, ‘Selected Improvisations [2020]’ is now available for a free download on Bandcamp. These improvisations were originally posted on SoundCloud and are present here are the original audio files some EQ and mastering applied.
